What is soft and hard reset and how do I perform them for Nokia 5800xm S60 V5 Mobile..???

A. The method of restoring the phone to a working condition by restoring to factory settings is known as a soft reset.There are 2 types of Soft Reset.

Restore Factory Setting
Dial *7780# to restore all the settings to default. It will request for security PIN, the default code will be 12345.

Reformat Phone System
Dial *7370# to reset Nokia device, only data in System will be affected. To play safe, back up all your data before proceed. It will request for security PIN, the default code will be 12345.

When the phone is not bootable or is unable to reach the GUI interface to type the code for a soft reset, what we do is a hard reset by only hardware keys. It requires the phone to be first switched off. Then Press the Call(green), End(Red) and Shutter buttons and power on as in the following figure. All Data on phone memory will be lost, fone will be formatted and firmware reinstalled from ROM. Phone will be good as new.
